Thomas A. Matyas (BA Hons, UNSW; PhD Macquarie) is Adjunct Professor, La Trobe University. Since retirement from full time academic duties he has also held honorary professorial research appointments at the Florey Neuroscience Institutes and University of Melbourne. He continues to pursue research in neurorehabilitation focusing on investigation design, statistical analysis, psychophysics and learning theory. He is an author on over 200 refereed publications, national and international conference presentations, and serves on the Editorial Board of the international journal Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair (since 1998). A chief investigator on research grants from the NHMRC, the ARC, other national or state organizations, and an assessor on several of those bodies, his contributions to research in physiotherapy and occupational therapy have been recognized by awards from the Australian Physiotherapy Association and the Victorian Association for Occupational Therapists. Five former doctoral students have achieved Australian professorial appointments in those disciplines.
