SENSe Stroke Ambassador
Karen is a working age stroke survivor and parent who sustained significant sensory loss and change from her stroke in 2009. Over the past eleven years in addition to working and parenting, Karen has volunteered extensively for the Stroke Foundation, Florey Neurosciences Institutes, Austin Health and La Trobe University. These roles include community education, advocacy, clinician training and consumer voice. She was a recipient of a Victorian Minister for Health Volunteer Award in 2012 and is one of the longest serving members of the Stroke Foundation Consumer Council. She administers two online support groups for more than 1,000 people living with stroke and is known for her openness and honesty.
